Description
Tender smash burger patties combined with Mexican taco elements in a flavorful fusion. Crispy beef, melted cheese, and fresh toppings on warm tortillas make for a quick yet satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Ground beef (80/20), 1.5 lb
Flour or corn tortillas, 8 small
Cheddar or American cheese, 8 slices
Lettuce, 1 head
Pico de gallo, 1 cup
Jalapeños, 1, sliced
Sour cream, 1 cup
Hot sauce, 1 tsp
Salt and pepper, 0.5 tsp
Instructions
Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions, roll into balls, and season with salt and pepper.
Heat a griddle or cast iron skillet over high heat until it’s sizzling.
Place the tortillas on the griddle, placing 1 beef ball in the center of each.
Smash each beef ball into an ultra-thin patty using a heavy spatula.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
Flip each tortilla with the patty in one motion and cook the other side for another minute.
Add a cheese slice on top of each patty, and cook for 1 minute until the cheese melts.
Fold the tortillas into a taco shape and serve with toppings like shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, sliced jalapeños, sour cream, and hot sauce.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute ground beef with plant-based burger patty and cheese with vegan cheese.
Ensure you use a heavy spatula to get the signature crispy edges on the burger.
Serve immediately to prevent the tortillas from softening.
