Description
A quick and comforting one-skillet lasagna using ground beef, ricotta, mozzarella, and marinara. Perfect for a family-friendly Italian dish with simplified cleanup and layered flavor from shared cooking.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or halal-certified pork-free Italian sausage/vegetarian ground crumbles)
3 cups marinara sauce (non-alcoholic)
8 oz lasagna noodles (broken into thirds)
1 cup ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (or nutritional yeast for vegan option)
2 cups water or beef broth
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
Instructions
Heat a deep skillet over medium heat. Cook ground beef, breaking into small pieces, until browned. Drain grease if needed.
Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Stir in marinara sauce, water/broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
Add broken lasagna noodles directly into the skillet. Layer half the ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan over the noodles. Stir gently and cover. Simmer 15-20 minutes until pasta is tender and absorbs liquid. Add remaining cheeses to top, cover, and cook 5 minutes longer. Season with additional garlic/seasoning if desired.
Notes
For halal compliance, use certified halal ground beef or pork-free alternative
Marinara sauce must be alcohol-free; check label for homemade versions
Adjust liquid if noodles become too dry during simmering
Add spinach or zucchini layers for a twist
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days
